Welcome to the
Riceville-Pendleton United Charge

A Typical Sunday Service

What to Expect When You Arrive...

When arriving at the Riceville-Pendleton Churches you could be greeted by either a seasoned elder or the youngest of Sunday school members. They will be happy to provide you with a Worship Service bulletin. Please feel free to sit wherever you feel most comfortable.

The service begins at 10 A.M. with various reads the announcements that pertain to our congregations read, and as well, the church community. We are blessed to have a very talented organist that donates her talents to the service and to the Sunday school. She is a most welcomed face for the children to see during their music time.

The service begins with a Call to Worship, followed by a tradition called the Greeting of Peace. At this time we move about shaking hands, saying hello peace be with you, or introducing ourselves to visitors or new members.

We then have Children's Time. The children are invited to the front to hear a children's sermon and sing a related hymn before going downstairs to attend Sunday School. Parents are welcome to accompany their children. All are welcome.

A Prayer of Confession and an Assurance of Pardon are next. The congregation sings a hymn, 3 Scripture Readings are read, followed by a second hymn and a Sermon.

The Pastoral Prayer and Lord's Prayer are followed the Collection of the Offering and a Prayer of Dedication. We then sing our Hymn of Commitment. In closing we receive our Commissioning and sing our Choral Benediction.

We, that are able, stand for the hymns, commissioning and choral benediction. The children often participate in the service. They assist the elders with the collection of offerings, distribution of the elements of Communion and also present special songs that they have learned at Sunday school. They add such charm and pride to anything that they do here at Riceville-Pendleton United Church.

After the service, everyone is invited downstairs for a wonderful lunch. It is a time to meet new members, visit with good friends and fellow congregation members. During July and August we only have coffee/tea and some cookies as we are all much busier during the summer months. A Living Love Can is beside the lunch table for any donations, this money goes into the Mission and Service Fund.

Washrooms are located in the lower halls of both buildings. Pendleton United Church is fully accessible with and elevator or stairs located at the back of the sanctuary.

Riceville United Church has a wheelchair accessible sanctuary and the lower hall can be accessed by the stairs located to the left of the west door.

We hope that your time with us is a pleasant and enjoyable one; whether it is for one visit or from years of attending. Please feel free to come back again...and soon!

Go now in peace, never be afraid. God will go with you each hour of ev'ry day.
Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true. Know he will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see.
God will be there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith and in love.
